YOUTH AWARENESS MONTH (IYAM)
Held the second weekend in August of each year. Youth throughout Nigeria travel to a destination in the SESS REGION ( SOUTH EAST / SOUTH SOUTH) for intense business, technology, innovation, and knowledge acquisition. Various individuals, who are considered successful in their different areas of endeavor, are recruited for each event as RESOURCE PERSONNEL. Their roles are usually to provide hands-on guidance to youth and pass on knowledge.
BUSINESS & ENTREPRENEURSHIP WORKSHOPS
Youth are interested in the pursuit of one enterprise or another, and are tasked to produce business or project plans, which are evaluated by older professionals. Through networking, youth whose plans are selected as having met stated thresholds are matched with successful venture capitalists to further mutual relationships aimed at wealth creation.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Each year, youth gather and carry out various outreach aimed at strengthening communities. Youth identify vulnerable segments of populations and come up with interventionist programs which turn around the lives of the most vulnerable in the community. Programs which target Women, infants, communities, as well as young adults who are out of lack of opportunities join inordinate or criminal cartels have tremendously benefited from such outreach.
DEMOCRACY & CIVIC RIGHTS EDUCATION
Civic rights and youth involvement in fostering a healthy democracy, devoid of intimidation but rather voluntary participation for community building, is essential to our existence. Education, health, public transportation, job creation, and availability of employment opportunities are greatly impacted by good governance. Consequently, educating youth and showing them the connection between shunning election violence, thuggery, vote buying, and other corruptive tendencies by political actors, they’re made to learn, subsequently enhancing the quality of lives and better opportunities for all.
